Do You Recommend Power Raking?
Power raking is typically not recommended due to the fact that it can be more harmful than beneficial to lawns. Power raking can remove too much grass and stress the existing root system, which can cause more weeds and bare spots. Aeration in the spring and fall is the most beneficial way to remove thatch. If you do notice excessive thatch, due to dry winter months, you can lightly rake those areas in the spring.

Do I Need To Remove The Aeration Plugs?
No, after a few weeks of watering, they will go away on their own. It is best to let them break down naturally in your lawn.
How Often Should Lawn Aeration In Colorado Springs Be Done?
Aeration should be done at least once per year for lawns that receive moderate amounts of traffic. For highly utilized lawns, you may need to aerate more often.
Should I Water My Lawn Prior To My Aeration Service Date?
If the weed control was applied in a light rain, results should still be satisfactory. The weed control is foliar absorbed and applied with a material to help it stick to the leaf surface before being taken in through the pores of the leaf. As long as the material is not washed off the leaf, control will occur. If you do not see leaf curling in 10 days, please call our office for a free re-treatment.
Should I Mow My Lawn Before My Aeration Service Date?
Try to mow one or two days before we arrive.
We ask that you also clean up any leaves, trash or other debris which might interfere with the aeration.

Do I Need To Mark My Sprinkler Heads Prior To The Service Date?
Yes, we ask that you flag hidden objects in your lawn, such as sprinkler heads, in-ground lights, invisible fences, valve box covers, etc. J. Rick Lawn & Tree is not responsible for accidental damage to hard-to-see objects in the lawn that are left unmarked.
